Politics is the study of the arrangements of societal power and authority based on the interests of the governed. Politics is an essential part of our lives and politics is the science of governing human societies. Politics is a field of inquiry into why political systems take the form they do and what the effects would be if political institutions were modified by changing political priorities and societal forces. Politics is the analysis of how political parties come to be and where they go in society. Some political scientists argue that politics is not really about politics but about managing the forces of authority and interest groups.
Politics is an essential part of our system of government and many laws have been passed to serve the will of citizens. Politics is the study of the political processes by which groups or individuals gain influence and advantage through legislation or popular votes. The field of politics is known as political science, and the sub-field of political science is known as political economy.
Why does politics matter? In a democratic society, politics may affect our lives in important ways, making certain decisions and influencing other people. At the founding of the United States, George Washington said, “Government of the people by the people, for the people, have power to act and not against the people.” He was writing toward a time when large political assemblies would make decisions about how the country would run. Today, people may make decisions through representatives in both houses of Congress and the presidency. Ultimately, though, the decisions that are made are still guided by politics.
Why do we take political polls? Polls are conducted to provide information to the public about the general direction in which public policies are taking. Throughout history, major decisions have been made about how to manage economies, military strategy, religious policy and even how to deal with foreign countries. One of the most influential modern political movements came about during the French revolution and the period of Jacobinism; it was an attempt by French citizens to exert political authority over a French monarchy, which they saw as being dishonest and decadent.
How can you become a politician? There are actually two ways that you can become a politician. First, you can stand for elective office yourself; this usually comes about when you are first elected to a local municipal office. Elected officials typically serve for several terms until they are allowed to run for elective office again. After that, you may run for the office of prime minister, where your support in the House of Parliament (Majesty) will ensure that you are able to form a government.
There are a number of different types of political parties and coalitions. Some political parties are international and represent a variety of nationalities. Coalitions build coalitions around common political goals like promoting peace and economic growth. They also work to keep political parties from opposing their agendas. Many of the coalitions have overlapping support bases amongst voters, making it difficult for any single party to garner enough votes to win elections. Although most of the coalitions work together to achieve a common goal, they often fight among themselves for the support of other political parties to get elected.
